About the Car-Free School Week

In recent years, car traffic around schools has steadily increased. This leads to more congestion and less safe situations when dropping off and picking up children. That is why Brabant gaat voor NUL verkeerslachtoffers and Brabant municipalities are organizing the Car-Free School Week.

During this week, parents and guardians leave the car at home as much as possible. Children come to school on foot, by scooter, or by bicycle. In addition, attention is paid at school to road safety, healthy exercise, and sustainable travel. With this campaign, we want to show that walking and cycling are not only safer, but also fun and healthy.

What are the schools doing?

During Car-Free School Week, participating schools focus on the theme in the classroom. In addition, schools receive communication materials to make the campaign visible. For example, they could order a beach flag or banner, and they receive a toolkit, campaign images, and a draft press release.
