Brainport Bike Week concluded successfully
Published on September 23, 2025Brainport Bike Week concluded festively on Sunday, September 21st, with the talk show "Aftrappers" (Footballs) at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, followed by a cycling caravan to the Philips Stadium. The closing ceremony brought together businesses, government, sports, and residents for an inspiring program focused on the future of mobility in the region.
The talk show was organized by Brainport Bereikbaar and the business bike-sharing provider Drop Mobility, in collaboration with PSV. Moderated by Meike de Jong (RTL Nieuws), prominent guests discussed the topic, including:
- Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Mayor of the Municipality of Eindhoven
- Frank Heemskerk, Head of Government Relations and Community Engagement ASML
- Marcel Brands, general manager PSV
- Roel Hellemons, director Eindhoven Airport
- Paul van Nunen, director Brainport Development Eindhoven
The discussions yielded stimulating insights on themes such as sustainability, innovation, and the role of sport in behavioral change. The central conclusion: initiatives must be launched without getting bogged down in excessive consultation or multiple layers of governance. It is precisely through the right collaboration that a difference can be made quickly.
Furthermore, the importance of clear communication—to employees, stakeholders, customers, and supporters—was emphasized to make mobility tangible and concrete. ASML was cited as an example: the company clearly communicates its target distribution—one-third by bicycle, one-third by public transport, and one-third by car—and demonstrates the importance and high use of (shared) e-bikes in the region.
Bicycle caravan
After the talk show, guests, partners, and visitors boarded Drop Mobility's (shared) e-bikes for a joint bicycle caravan from the High Tech Campus to the Philips Stadium. This festive and highly visible way to emphasize the importance of smart and sustainable (shared) mobility. The day concluded with the Eredivisie clash between PSV and Ajax, where the region once again demonstrated how innovation, sport, and mobility go hand in hand.
With Aftrappers and Brainport Bike Week, a powerful message has been sent: smart travel together – with the bicycle as a symbol of a healthy, sustainable and innovative future.
