Start of construction of cycle routes in Best
Published on October 8, 2025Ground has been broken for the construction of three continuous cycle routes in Best. Thousands of commuters will soon be able to reach their destinations quickly via three new connections. The project includes two fast and safe cycle routes to Eindhoven and a connection along the Wilhelmina Canal to Oirschot and Son. Construction of the cycle routes was launched during a kickoff meeting on October 8th.
"We're starting construction on the F2 on Bosseweg," says Alderman Jan Willem Slijper of the municipality of Best. Starting next year, other sections of the F2 and F58 routes along the canal will also begin. At some locations, we still need to go through spatial planning procedures, which will require some more preparation time.
"Next year, we'll also be completing the Pendelroute," explains Alderman Robert Strijk of the municipality of Eindhoven. "That's the connection between the Breeven industrial estates in Best and GDC Acht in Eindhoven. And we're starting construction on sections of the F2 route within Eindhoven. Soon, you'll be able to cycle from Best via the Achtse Barrier to the center of Eindhoven."
Throughout Brabant, the province is developing a network of fast cycle routes. These are comfortable, wide, and safe cycle paths that allow you to cycle from A to B with minimal obstacles. This way, (electric) bicycles are becoming a viable alternative to cars for more and more Brabant residents.
"Last summer, we announced the largest investment ever in fast cycle routes here in Best," says Provincial Executive Member Stijn Smeulders (Mobility). "That's why it's very special to be there again now that the first shovel is breaking ground on these routes. Brabant is a cycling province par excellence. Our cities are relatively close together, at distances that are certainly manageable by electric bike. Especially in the rapidly growing Brainport region, it's therefore important that we offer cycling as an attractive alternative to driving. That's what we're doing with these routes."
