Bus on hard shoulder started on the A67

Brainport Bereikbaar-bus rijdt over de vluchtstrook

Buses can use the emergency lane on a section of the A67 during traffic jams. In this way, the Province of North Brabant, Brainport Bereikbaar, and Rijkswaterstaat are encouraging the use of public transport. This contributes to the accessibility of the Brainport region, reduces car traffic, and thus lowers CO2 emissions.

Bus on the Emergency Lane is a solution for commuters and residents who want to travel quickly, without traffic jams, and sustainably to and from work, school, or other appointments.During traffic jams, public transport buses and private transport (employers) are allowed to use the hard shoulder after an exemption has been granted.Reliable and shorter travel times, less car traffic, lower CO2 emissions and fewer parking problems on your business park.

DAF on the hard shoulder

Jos Habets of DAF Trucks NV was the very first employer to apply for an exemption to drive his bus on the hard shoulder during traffic jams. We're naturally proud of that! Stijn Smeulders, member of the Provincial Executive of North Brabant, and Wim Fabries, Head of Department for Public Works and Water Management South Netherlands, also emphasized the importance of this smart solution. Alderman Steven Kraaijeveld of the Municipality of Eersel and Alderman Jeroen Rooijakkers of the Municipality of Veldhoven were the first to participate in the first drive on September 4th.
