Solution for e-bikes at PSV home games
Published on April 30, 2025More and more PSV supporters are coming to PSV home games by bike. To further stimulate this, the club has temporarily set up a guarded pop-up bicycle shed. With this pilot, PSV wants to investigate whether such a facility for (electric) bicycles contributes to less car traffic around the stadium.
The guarded bicycle shed offers a safe and comfortable place for bicycles and can still be used during the matches PSV-Fortuna Sittard on 3 May and PSV-Heracles on 14 May. The shed has room for 80 bicycles and attracted a good number of visitors during two previous matches. Visitors can buy a ticket for €2.50 in advance via psv.nl/fietsenstalling. A ticket can also be bought online on site if there is sufficient availability.
Enthusiastic responses
The reactions of visitors have been very positive so far. For example, one couple said: 'We have been coming to PSV for 30 years, but this was the first time that we cycled together from Dommelen to the Philips Stadium on an electric bike.' These are exactly the reactions that PSV is hoping for, says a spokesperson for the club. 'We hope that this guarded parking facility will encourage more people with an electric bike to cycle to the match. That will contribute to reducing the number of cars around the stadium.'
Future possibilities
'The bicycle shed is already a great success, but we hope to improve the occupancy rate even further', says Jelmer van Herpen on behalf of Brainport Bereikbaar, the organization that is co-organizing the pilot. 'With the two remaining matches we hope to welcome more supporters and see if the demand for a permanent shed for e-bikes is big enough. After that, PSV can investigate the possibilities for a permanent shed.'
